How many facets, let me count the ways
I have often wondered if there was anyone else like me in the world. I don’t just enjoy music, I enjoy all of it. Feeling bluesy, blues is on my listening queue. Need some soothing cello, then 2Cellos it is. I don’t just stick to one particular type of music. For me, good music has no expiration date. Of course, this is exactly how it should be, but don’t tell the one who has to stay within the lines and only listen to one type of music. That, would absolutely bore me!
Thankfully, I am finding many more people, who interestingly, are just like me. This must be that occurrence, when you know you’ve met your tribe. Wonderful isn’t it, to know your not crazy? Ok, maybe just a little! But hey, aren’t all the best people are?
“Mad Matter: “Have I gone mad?”
Alice: “I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”-Alice in Wonderland, by Tim Burton
It’s funny, we spend most of our lives, just trying to fit in. As we mature, we realize just how foolish that is, and gain much peace and joy in the process. One day, I am sure, I will meet others who love the things I do. Until then, I’m just going to keep dancing to the beat of my own drum. It’s more fun that way. Guess that’s just the rebel in me. And I am certainly okay with that.
So remember, it’s alright to not be like anyone else. Just be you! Oftentimes, that is harder, than putting on the mask which we have all worn a time or two. But when your breakthrough comes, and it will, if you don’t protest too much, you’ll find that being you, is what draws people to you, in unexpected ways.
