They say change is good
But what if its not
I guess it depends on what you perceive
Or on what you’ve got
That helps clear the eye
From all the rubbish and stuff.

There my life was displayed
Yet not so clear at the time
But so illuminated
By a moments folly at a ball, oh dear!
Not one, but two
Of the facets of my personality
Dared to escape
At the same time!
Oh my!!
Now everyone will see that I’m odd!
That I don’t fit in!
What shall I do, I cried?
The one facet with light aplenty exclaimed!
Better to be honest with yourself
And also with others
For this is how those like you, find you.
The other, slightly smudged, but smirking none the less declared.
In the end, does it really matter?
Why hide, when you can flaunt who you are?
Life is certain to never be dull.
And there I was
Anxious and scared
But no sooner was I ready to run
When another, somewhat like me
Caught my eye
Laughing he was!
A twinkle in his eye
While sighing a sigh
Of relief!
Thank goodness your here!
And you’ve uncaged yourself too!
How wonderful my darling
For you see
We are so very rare!
And with a regal bow
He extended his hand to me, and asked
Shall I introduce you to the others?
There are others? I asked
Yes my darling!
And now that you have arrived
The merriment will be so much livelier
For you see, my dear
We are all uncaged here
This is where we celebrate our differences
No mask is required
No worry to be who you are
Just put one foot in front of the other
And smile!
My flight response
Was put to ease
And so with as much gusto as I dared!
Yes Sir, I would like to meet the others!
Please
And so a moments folly
Showed her the way
Best to be one’s self
Than a copy, of one who is caged.

Sparks of life and hope
Dwell deep within me
Pushing and pulling me
In a direction that leads
Guiding me to my promises
With confirmations along the way
Teaching me
To see with my heart, and not my eyes
That my thoughts become things
My words become life
And the past no longer dictates
Who I am
So let my life arise
Greeting each new day, with gratefulness
For all that has made me who I am
and will be
For now
I am strong enough
Embracing myself first
So that I have more, to give. . . . . .

Our fears bind us
In unusual ways
Freezing us in mid step
Before a door of opportunity
But they do not stop time
Instead we lose it
to an enemy we can all overcome
The lies they tell our minds
Our hearts
Even when our spirit knows the truth
And the path clear
But not easy
Our fear has become a chain
Until we decide what to believe
Let us not wander too long in confusion
Being careful to choose those who walk with us
And those to speak into our lives
For if I am to move forward
I must recognize
The strength and courage within
To be free of this illusion of a chain
And break them, and be

It doesn’t matter if you take small steps
Or large ones
Play hop scotch
Even decide to take the scenic route
Or even back track
It only matters
That you take steps in the right direction

It’s Fall Y’all!!!
And it has been a busy month, going to and fro, visiting our local Memphis Zoo, being with my Mother for her gall bladder surgery (she is doing very well thank you), and trying to play catch up at work. As soon as I can figure out how to move my photos from Instagram, I will be more than happy to share.
Otherwise, I’m very excited for this is probably my favorite season. Leaves of many different colors, I have a unique fondness for the reds, burgandys, and the golds. The seasonal Pumpkin Spice this and that. And last, but certainly not least, home made soups, chili, cornbread, football, hayrides, corn dogs, nachos, and knowing that Thanksgiving is right around the corner.
And here is another reminder. So is Christmas!
So time to get your lists ready, decide if you can, which of the awesome movies to go see,or go see them all. And prepare yourself for the Presidential election if you’re in the states. And yes please vote! Or prepare yourself, Winter is Coming!
Yes, the pun was intended.
One favor, if I may ask? What exactly is a Chapbook? How can I find out more? And am I allowed to use my poetry from here? I know it’s a lot of questions. But I would like to try our some of those poetry contests, and I’m still learning the lingo.
Hope your October is going well and filled with lots of good memories.Keep shining, and shine bright!
The trials may make you tired, but the wisdom you learn is invaluable.

So often
As our journey we call life progresses
We are actually asleep
Neither the light of day
Or the dark of night
The symphony of sounds
Or a touch of a human hand
Can stir us to be
It takes an awakening
From a divine source
To shake loose
The slumber from our eyes
And the stiffness of our hearts
To be consummately aware
That we are indeed
Alive
Then everything changes
A new and righteous hunger
For kindness and love
Truth that is neither black nor white
But a wisdom as old as time itself
That is only refuted by fools who do not see
Fluid lines of light and color
A tapestry of us all
And not a lonely thread
Miraculous moments that are not so easily explained
Simple yet complex
Bursting forth from our souls
A longing that we can not fill
To breathe, to be, to give. to hold
Our gifts that have lain dormant
Until we the sleepers awaken
